FAQs:
How to Scale Up Filling & Capping
What hardware or devices can be filled with your filling machine?
The 710Shark can fill most cartridges, disposables, pods, tinctures, capsules & syringes on the market. Particularly, the ideal device candidates are those that have a wider opening between the glass cell & airflow down stem. When choosing a device look for those with less obstructions surrounding the airflow down stem (i.e. no silicone rings or gaskets on the stems which may add friction to the needles upon entry). Look for devices where you have the option to have the silicone pieces separated or omitted altogether; better yet find those whose silicone is embedded in the mouthpieces. For examples that we (as operators) favor, check out our Preferred Vendors list (Nexcore for ceramic 510 threaded carts; CCELL, Bold, or 14th Round for glass 510 threaded carts & Ispire's LVL or OVL for disposables).
Can I customize my order to fit my brand and if so, which ones?
Absolutely! We specialize in custom branded products & have helped build many of the largest brands in the industry. Cartridges, disposables, & batteries can be fully customized with your logo as well as a variety of different colors, shapes, fits, apertures, & finishes. Have a special project in mind or new device you want to build? We’ve got you covered!
What is the lead time on orders?
Machines are inventoried here in the US & are ready to ship within 24 hours on business days upon full payment. Custom trays require device samples & deposit to render CAD designs. Fabrication takes up to 14 business days upon final payment.
How much oil loss will occur with each batch, within the machine and oil reservoir?
There is little-to-no loss because we do not use an “oil line.” Instead, we use 100 individual pistons to push the oil out of 100 cylinders inside the injector head. The channelized oil basin allows the needles to sit deeper in the oil, leaving ~85mL remaining oil in the basin at the end of a full set of runs. That remaining oil can be easily recaptured to use in the next run, which means no waste!
How frequently does it require calibration?
You are not required to calibrate the machine if you are using the same style of cartridge for each run. However, it should be common practice for operators to check alignment prior to use. Calibration of the machine is required whenever you change devices, as the width and depth (or distance that the devices travel to the needle) varies between different devices (i.e. cartridges vs. disposables, 0.5g cart vs. 1.0g cart).
How many units can it fill per hour? Per day?
The 710Shark can fill up to 100 cartridges per minute - that's 6,000 cartridges per hour! With ideal production conditions, that's about 48k carts per day.
How long is the start-up/heat-up procedure?
Depending on your ambient room temp & the desired set temp, it takes ~10 minutes to heat both the injector head & basin. Naturally, it may take longer to reach higher temperatures, but no longer than 30 minutes to reach the max temp. Once operators have the right tray jigs for their desired devices, start-up time is just a matter of minutes from checking for alignment to powering it on!
Is it possible to run the machine continuously throughout a working day?
Yes. The machine was designed for continuous operation, as it operates both manually and automatically. You may continuously supply oil to the machine by pouring directly into the basin, or by cycling between basins.
How do variations in oil viscosity affect performance?
Knowing the constituents and potency of the oil will serve the operator greatly when gauging and working with various viscosities. Different oil viscosities require different draw-up times from the basin to the injector, which can be adjusted accordingly by adjusting the air pressure via oil injector in/out air valves. Another variable that operators may want to adjust is the differential between oil basin & injector temperatures. Air flow & temperature are the two key variables that will vary between oil batches; & thus, operators should take note & use best practices to adjust accordingly.
What is the highest viscosity fluid that the 710Shark is able to dispense?
Our customers have been known to use up to 98% concentration with our machine. So far, viscosity has not been shown to impede performance of the latest version of the 710Shark.
What is the operating temperature range of the oil basin?
The temperature ranges between 0-100°C. Common operating temperature for thick oils is 60-70°C, when ambient room temp is 25°C.
What are the electrical requirements?
The 710Shark system runs on a standard 120V circuit. See Technical Specifications of each machine for more details.
With what variety can the 710Shark be configured?
We can customize many different aspects of your 710Shark in order to accommodate all different types of tinctures, capsules, pods, etc. Typically, we try to maximize the original 10x10 configuration but when filling disposables or larger tanks/pods we use various configurations accordingly (i.e. 5x10, 5x5, etc).
How often does preventative maintenance need to be performed on the machine?
Cleaning is by far the most important preventative maintenance duty which should be performed daily after use. It will increase longevity of the machine & ensure consistent fills each time. Full injector head maintenance (deep cleaning of cylinders, checking mileage on gaskets/orings) should be performed every 3 months or about 500 cycled fills, whichever comes first. Just like a piano, when you move it, you should tune it! If in storage for extended periods or in transit, be sure to keep machine secured in an upright position & maintain leveled & squared mounting.
